This exhibit consists of photographs of store windows with an emphasis on what is reflected in the window. Each is derived from a single image. Most of the images are from Florence, Italy, several from Manhattan, and one from Curacao, Netherlands West Indies. The viewer is invited to observe what is usually blotted out. Background and foreground contrast, merge, and alternate. In these images the ambiguities of space, the distortions, and the intricate new patterns intrigue me. The store window objects, the background buildings, and the people in the background provide a contrapuntal effect. The title “Reflections” has an additional meaning – the thought involved in both creating the images and viewing the images.
